Road To Faa’imata

KI HE LELEI TAHA represents a vision for a way of life, a hope and a country’s aspirations.

Established post WWII, the Tonga High School (THS) motto Ki He Lelei Taha articulates the essence of it’s founder’s foresight for nation building and underpins principles, ideals and values that would guide a people to step forward with confidence between two worlds – traditional/domestic and western/global.

Tonga High School was established in 1947 by Prince Tungi, the Minister of Education, who later became King Taufa’ahau Tupou IV.  His Late Majesty established the institution as the Ako Matematika —  the Matriculation School and was opened on Thursday 27th 1947.  His Late Majesty’s vision for the school was to provide the best education for the best of the young population and the expectation that they would provide the quality human resources the country needs for optimal development and progress.  It was on 30th May 1955 that the late Queen Salote Tupou III gave the motto KI HE LELEI for Tonga High School.

This website provides students, ex-students and friends of Tonga High School (THS) information on the RoadToFaaimata Initiative 2022/23. It is work in progress…
